EARTH DAY
APRIL 22, 2010
Some of the folks we support in our Explorations and Bridge Centre day programs delivered Earth Day "care bags" to their local community and Fort Langley. Staff at Partners In Employment handed over "care bags" to local businesses and some of our residents visited their neighbours and gave them "care bags".
The Langley Association for Community Living initiated the Go Green Committee in December of 2007. The purpose of the committee was to identify and implement Go Green practices within our organization. The committee has had active membership and includes self advocates who are passionate about creating change in regards to environmental issues.
Our first Go Green Newsletter is available now. We urge you to read it online rather than printing it out, thus saving paper!

EARTH DAY - APRIL 22, 2010
For Earth Day this year, our Go Green Committee wanted to share with our local community, friends and neighbours, what Langley Association for Community Living is doing to improve our Go Greeness!
We wanted to do something that was both economical, environmentally friendly and fun! The Go Green Committee got together to fill paper "care bags" (as in "caring for the Earth"). These bags had tips, information, fridge magnets to make up useful phrases to put on your fridge as a reminder of what you can do, seeds and recipes for home made cleaning materials.

Better Solutions and Backyard Composting produced by Metro Vancouver
LACL's "Explorations" has worked hard to collect coffee grinds and compost material for the Community Garden in Murrayville, Langley, B.C. LEPS (Langley Environmental Partners Society) negotiated on their behalf with the Township of Langley for a more appropriate mode of transport. The result was the "Community Compost Cart" which provides a more efficient and professional mode of transport for the compost material. Now the folks at Explorations have been able to expand their operations to encourage local businesses and community members to join in.
Grateful thanks to LEPS and the Township of Langley!
