SELF ADVOCATE COMMITTEE

 My name is Jonathan Jones and I have been part of the Self Advocate group for a few months.  During the week, I attend Quest program where I learn lifeskills and job skills, play cards and hang out.  I also go to Partners in Employment to look for jobs.  I enjoy bowling at different bowling alleys around the lower mainland.  I also like listening to hard rock music on the radio and on CDs.

My name is Jim.  I attend Bridge Centre in Langley.  My family is so special because they cook good food and they are very nice to me.  I like bowling, track and field, going to the library and to Tim Hortons for coffee and donuts.  I like seeing all my friends at my day program.  They are nice and friendly and fun and they don't call me bad names.  I also like being on the Self Advocate Committee because I learn new stuff.  I was also a member of Community Living Days Committee and I helped with the Hoe Down.

My name is Brent Ponak and I enjoy spending time with my friends.  For many years, I have been a competitive athlete with Langley Special Olympics.  I am an avid bowler and my score is seldom lower than two hundred.  Floor hockey, baseball and bocce ball are also a few of my favourite team sports.  I also train for the individualized swimming competition.

After high school, I continued with my education at Invergary School.  I enjoy reading and math.

I have a close friend, Lee, and we invite others to watch pay per view wrestling.  We have six to eight friends come together and watch this exciting sporting event.

My other favourite social activity is the monthly Sunshine dances.  I am close to my family and I have two older brothers who live in Abbotsford.  "My roots are deep in Langley and as long as I have my friends, I have no desire to pull them".

                                                  I'm Jennifer Dykstra -  I attend Explorations day program at Langley Association for Community Living and work in Langley at the Army and Navy store.  I enjoy all of my volunteer jobs in the community and I love cooking, bowling and swimming.

I'm Adam Schatz and I enjoy being a part of the Explorations program.  I enjoy basketball, music and hanging out with my friends.  I have many volunteer jobs in the Langley community.

My name is Jeff Scott. I won a Tony award last year for finding my own job at London Drugs. That was in Ladner. I have a cat named Boomer. He likes to sleep on my bed but sometimes he swats at me because he thinks my bed is his. I like playing baseball and floor hockey. My friends are Keith from Ladner, Bradley, Jason, David T. and I like the Bridge staff too. I am hoping to find a new job soon in Langley. I am going to meet with Partners in Employment soon. First I need an intake meeting. I know about movies, different sporting events and the news. I am very good at drama. I have a very good English accent. I can remember lots of different lines from movies and I like to act them out for my friends. I am on the Self Advocate committee and the Hoe Down committee.

My name is Rosemerri Stafford.  I like going to Self Advocates meetings because they are so interesting.  I work at Tim Horton's and McDonald's.  I like to work because I get paid.  I'm nice to everyone and I think it's important to be nice all the time, especially at work.
