Respite Services for Adults
The goal of respite services for adults is to provide additional support rest and renewal for the parents of those adult children whose primary care is provided by the parents. Individuals receiving respite will have the opportunities to develop new relationships with other families and friends, as well as experience different community events and enjoyable occasions.
Caregivers are screened and skilled, so that parents and their sons and daughters may choose a family or individual that will ensure a safe, enjoyable experience. Adult respite is provided on an overnight or weekend schedule, usually in the home of caregiver. Families and single persons can provide this support.
There are occasions when the right caregiver is not able to provide respite in their home, and a request to use Bridge House is then explored. Bridge House is a home located on the ground of Bridge Center, and it is fully equipped and wheelchair accessible. Individuals and parents generally provide their own caregivers and use Bridge House if it is available.
