The Langley Association for Community Living was founded in 1959 by parents of children with special needs. Formed to provide services for persons with a mental handicap, the Association today continues with its work, encouraging and fostering the development of new and varied programs and services that support the unique needs of children and adults with developmental disabilities.
A registered B.C. Society and charitable organization in Canada, the Langley Association remains today member directed. A Board of Directors, composed of family members, self-advocates, members of the business community and other interested community members, is elected annually by the membership.
Langley Association for Community Living is a major provider of services to people with developmental disabilities and operates programs and provides services from over 15 locations in Langley. The Association seeks to foster the participation and inclusion of the more than 200 children with special needs and adults with developmental disabilities which it serves.
Dedicated staff and volunteers work together to provide quality family respite care, residential support services and housing, lifeskills development, vocational and employment training and family support in a way that respects the uniqueness of each person.
